NRS Taj M’Haul Deck Bag and HydroLock Map Case

NRS provides us with some great gear for our expedition; 2 Taj M’Haul Deck Bag’s and 2 HydroLock Map Case’s. We had the chance to use this gear over the course of the expedition and really liked it.

First, the Taj M’Haul Deck Bag is a fairly large deck bag with a dry bag insert and removable rigid plastic skeleton to help keep its barn like shape. During eh expedition we stored everything from our food to satellite phone. Although I did not close the dry bag, it helped nonetheless because it prevented the water that was dripping on the deck bag from coming into the bag and on the contents. Also, because of its rigid design, we were able to put our deck compass on the bag which was a big plus for us.

The HydroLock Map Case is really bombproof. The outside black rim is made of a very durable material and the clear urethane window didn’t held up well the the abuse that was thrown at it as the case was rolled and stuffed into our bulkheads between paddles. Also, the map case has holes at the four corners which allowed us to attach to the bungee cords running vertical to our cockpits via carabiners. All in all its a really good design. Thanks NRS
